BCR/ABL1 GENE REARRANGEMENT, QUANTITATIVE PCR WITH REFLEX TO SUBTYPE

Components
BCR-ABL1/ABL1, P190 BCR-ABL1, P210 BCR-ABL1 This reverse-transcription PCR-based assay detects the BCR-ABL1 transcript produced by the t(9;22) chromosomal translocation associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and a subset of lymphoblastic leukemias.

Specimen Required
Draw blood in a lavender EDTA tube. Send 6.0 mL whole blood (4.0 mL minimum) refrigerated in original collection tube. Sample must arrive at Warde Medical Laboratory the day of collection. Ship Sunday-Friday only.

Alternate Specimen
Bone marrow: EDTA, 3.0 mL, Sodium heparin, or ACD B

Rejection Criteria
Clotted blood or bone marrow, frozen blood or bone marrow, grossly hemolyzed samples
