Specimen Required
Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 2 hours. Send 1.0 mL serum (0.2 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Rejection Criteria
Plasma, CSF, contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.

Reference Range
0.90 IV or less: Negative - VlsE1 and PepC10 Antibodies to B. burgdorferi not detected
0.91 - 1.09 IV: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10 - 14 days may be helpful.
1.10 IV or greater: Positive - VlsE1 and pepC10 antibodies to B. Burgdorferi detected
