Test Documentation
Specimen Required
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube. Centrifuge, separate from cells within 2 hours of collection and send 1.0 mL serum (0.5 mL minimum) room temperature in a screw-capped plastic vial.
Submit with order: Bromide dose, bromide dose frequency, bromide route, bromide type of draw.

After separation from cells:
Room Temperature: 7 days; Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen: Indefinite

Reference Range
Therapeutic range:
10-50 mg/dL: Sedation
75-150 mg/dL: Epilepsy seizure control
>150 mg/dL: May be associated with debilitating toxicity.
>300 mg/dL: May be fatal.
