Test Documentation
Specimen Required
Draw blood in a dark blue EDTA tube. Centrifuge and separate RBCs into a 50 mL acid washed plastic screw cap vial within 2 hours of collection. Send 0.5 mL RBCs (0.3 mL minimum) refrigerated.

Alternate Specimen
RBCs: Dark blue sodium heparin, lavender EDTA, green sodium or lithium heparin. Transport RBCs in a 50 mL acid-washed plastic screw-cap vial.

Rejection Criteria
Clotted samples, Gross hemolysis
