Specimen Required
Collect random urine in acid washed container. Send 7.0 mL urine (3.0 mL minimum) refrigerated in an acid washed screw-capped plastic container. Avoid worksite collection. Avoid seafood consumption for 48 hours prior to collection. Call for collection container. A completed heavy metal form must accompany sample. Test performed on a specimen submitted in a non-trace element tube or a non-acid washed/non-mtal free container may not accurately reflect the patient's level. If a non-trace element tube or container is received it will be accepted for testing. However, elevated results will be reported with a message that a resubmisstion with a trace element tube/container if recommended.
