HEPATITIS B VIRUS DRUG RESISTANCE, GENOTYPE, AND BCP/PRECORE MUTATIONS

Components
This test is used to: 1. Identify HBV genotype (A-H) for epidemiology or prognostic purposes. 2. Detect hepatitis B virus (HBV) mutations associated with resistance to antiviral agents. This test can only be performed reliably on specimens with a viral load >=600 IU/mL

Specimen Required
Draw blood in 2 lavender EDTA tubes. Centrifuge, separate plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection and send 1.0 mL plasma (0.3 mL minimum) frozen in two screw-capped plastic vials.

Alternate Specimen
Serum: SST
