Components
This is a rapid antigen screen for HLA-B27 expression on blood T lymphs to assist in diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis and related entities. Positive screen results should be confirmed by molecular methods (such as PCR).

Specimen Required
Draw blood in a lavender EDTA tube. Send 4.0 mL whole blood (1.0 mL minimum) room temperature in the original tube. Collect samples Monday through Thursday only. Send within 24 hours of collection.

Whole blood, heparinized, ACD A

Rejection Criteria
ACD B
Hemolyzed specimens
Specimens that have been refrigerated or frozen
Specimens with a volume less than 1 mL
