Specimen Required
Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge, separate serum from cells within 2 hours and send 1.0 mL serum (0.1 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Plasma, hemolyzed, lipemic, icteric, heat inactivated or turbid specimens

   >=1:11 IV: Positive-IgM antibodies to influenza A virus detected, which may suggest current or recent infection.
