Draw blood in a grey sodium fluoride tube. Send 5.0 mL whole blood (1.0 mL minimum) refrigerated. Do not open container.

Whole blood: Heparin; Serum: Red-top; Urine, gastric fluid or vitreous fluid

Reference Range
Isopropanol Decision Level:   10 mg/dL  
   Toxic:   >40 mg/dL  
   Lethal:   >150 mg/dL  
Acetone Decision Level: 10 mg/dL
Levels >50 mg/dL of acetone may indicate severe isopropanol poisoning.
