Specimen Required
Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce interfering substances. Patients should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements vitamins, minerals, and non-essential over-the-counter medicatons (upon advice of their physician). Draw blood in a plain dark blue, centrifuge, remove serum from cells within 2 hours of collection and send 2.0 mL serum (0.5 mL minimum) refrigerated in a blue-capped metal-free screw-capped plastic vial.

Rejection Criteria
Specimens collected in tubes other than dark blue no additive (plain).
