Specimen Required
Specimen source required. Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge, separate and send 1.0 mL serum (0.5 mL minimum) frozen in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Alternate Specimen
EDTA plasma, CSF, amniotic fluid, vesicle fluid, or synovial fluid. Tissue (freeze immediately). Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue can be submitted, but is not an optimal sample. Transport paraffin block at 20-25°C.

Rejection Criteria
Leaking containers, heparinized or hemolyzed samples, frozen whole blood, tissues in formalin or other preservatives.
