PHOSPHOLIPIDS, SERUM OR PLASMA

Specimen Required
Patient Preparation: Patient should fast 12 hours prior to collection.
Draw blood in a SST. Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature before centrifuging. Centrifuge, separate and send 1.0 mL serum (0.5 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Alternate Specimen
Plasma: EDTA, heparin (sodium or lithium)
Serum: Red-top
