Specimen Required
Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge, separate serum from cells, and send 1.0 mL serum (0.1 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Alternate Specimen
Serum: Red-top

Rejection Criteria
Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens, heat-inactivated specimens.

Semi-Quantitative Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay

Stability
Room temperature: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 14 days; Frozen: 1 year

Reference Range
1.49 IV or less: Negative - No significant level of Strongyloides IgG antibody detected.
1.50-2.10 IV: Equivocal - Questionable presence of Strongyloides IgG antibody detected. Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.
2.11 IV or greater: Positive - IgG antibodies to strongyloides detected, which may suggest current or past infection.
