Specimen Required
Sample should be obtained between 15 minutes and 3 hours after the event suspected of causing mast cell activation. Draw blood in a SST. Centrifuge, separate serum from cells within 3 hours and send 1.0 mL srum (0.5 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial.

Serum: Red-top; Plasma: EDTA, lithium heparin, sodium heparin
