VASOACTIVE INTESTINAL POLYPEPTIDE (VIP)

Specimen Required
Collect Protease Inhibitor tube (obtain from lab) using a winged collection kit. Filling collection tubes directly through a needle/tube-holder assembly increases the risk of chemical reflux back into the vein of the patient and is NOT RECOMMENDED. Collection tubes are NOT STERILE. Mix collection tube throughly. Separate the plasma from the cells within one hour of collection by centrifugation. Transfer 1.0 mL plasma (0.5 mL minimum) to a screw-capped plastic vial and freeze. Do NOT submit the collection tube for testing.
