Specimen Required
Patient Preparation: Patient should fast overnight (12-14 hours).
Infants - draw prior to next feeding.
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube and protect from light while tube clots. Centrifuge, separate serum from cells within 2 hours and send 1.0 mL serum (0.5 mL minimum) frozen in an amber screw-capped plastic vial.
PROTECT FROM LIGHT IMMEDIATELY AFTER COLLECTION. CRITICAL FROZEN.
