VITAMIN B6 (PYRIDOXINE)

Specimen Required
Patient must fast overnight and be restricted from alcohol and vitamins for at least 24 hours before sample collection. Collect infant samples before next feeding.
Draw blood in a lavender EDTA tube. Centrifuge, separate and send 1.0 mL plasma (0.5 mL minimum) frozen in an amber screw-capped plastic vial. Freeze within 6 hours. CRITICAL FROZEN. PROTECT FROM LIGHT.

Serum: Red top or SST
Plasma: Heparin, (sodium or lithium)

Rejection Criteria
Samples not protected from light.
