Specimen Required
Draw blood in a lavender EDTA tube. Centrifuge, separate and send 0.8 mL plasma (0.3 mL minimum) refrigerated in a screw-capped plastic vial. The high sensitivity of amplification by PCR requires the specimen be processed in an environment in which contaminate in which contamination of the specimen by WNV DNA is not likely.

SST, gross hemolysis, plasma gel tube
