Methodology
Alpha-galactosidase is a lysosomal enzyme active at an acidic pH. The enzyme hydrolyzes artificial substrates such as 4-methylumbelliferyl and alpha-D galactopyranoside. The 4-methylumbelliferone liberated is measured by fluorometry.
