Pure culture

Specimen Preparation

Send pure culture of anaerobic isolate refrigerated. Collect specimens using an Amies gel transport swab, Amies liquid elution swab (Eswab) or equivalent. Number of antibiotics tested is dependent on organism ID.

Patient Preparation: If using saliva sample, patient should not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for 30 minutes prior to collection. A previous bone marrow transplant from an allogenic donor will interfere with testing.
