Specimen Preparation

Centrifuge and separate plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection avoiding buffy coat material. Send 0.5 mL plasma frozen in a screw capped plastic vial. CRITICAL FROZEN.

Clinical indication is needed for appropriate interpretation; additional required information includes age, sex, diet (e.g., TPN therapy) drug therapy and family history.

Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
