Patient Preparation
Patients should be encouraged to discontinue vitamins, nutritional supplements and non-essential over-the-counter medications. High concentrations of iodine may interfere with elemental testing. Abstinence from iodine-containing medications or contrast agents is recommended at least 1 month before sample collection.

24 hour urine, refrigerate during collection
Specimen Preparation
Mix urine well and send 8.0 mL urine in a blue capped ARUP metal-free screw capped plastic vial. Record total volume and collection time interval on transport tube.
