Patients are encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals and non-essential over the counter medication. Abstinence from iodine - containing medications or contrast agents for at least 1 month prior to urine collection is recommended.

Specimen Preparation
Collect 24 hour urine, refrigerate during collection. Send 8.0 mL urine in a blue capped ARUP metal-free screw capped plastic vial. Record total volume and collection time interval on container.
