Collect
24 hour urine (refrigerate and protect from light during collection)
Specimen Preparation
Collect 24 hour urine in a screw capped plastic container, PROTECT FROM LIGHT. Add 5 g sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) at the start of the collection to maintain a pH of 6 - 7. Refrigerated during collection. Send a 2.0 mL preserved urine. Provide 24 hour urine volume.
Alternate Specimen
24 hour urine (no preservative) in screw capped container. Send 2.0 mL urine refrigerated. PROTECT FROM LIGHT.
